Meet me and read about my journey to professional organising
Hi! I'm Nicola, and I'm the professional organiser behind Moss & Earth.

For many years I was an illustrator, before that a teacher, and before that an editor. If you really want to go all the way back though, the first ever job I had was customer service when I was 14; serving at a bakery!
Through all of them I've had one constant: I love to organise!
Though this is something that hasn't always been appreciated, that's for sure. And I finally thought: why not work for people who do appreciate it?

But the real catalyst for this change of career, was the birth of my daughter. I had a pretty bad pregnancy, and then post natal depression. For a long time, I couldn't wrap my head around my new existence.
After a year of therapy (and a prescription from the doctor), I finally felt a lot better. It was like waking up. And when I woke up, I looked round my house and discovered that literally everything was a mess.
The organiser in me kicked in. I decluttered like nobody's business, ruthlessly letting things go left, right and centre. Then I got down to organising. And I had so much fun! It was like coming back to myself.

Finally, when I was finished, I felt so much lighter, so much better. It was like a weight was lifted from my shoulders.
I'd also read a book called Ikigai: The Japanese secret to a long and happy life, which describes the Japanese concept of finding your reason for being.
Things began to click, my thoughts ticked over: I love organising, I want to help people, I want to help other mums, something feels like it's missing from my illustration work, I want to organise for people who appreciate it, I love interior design, carpentry, and can do DIY . . .

And all of that led to starting my professional organisation business: Moss & Earth.
Just to cap the convergence of all of these thoughts off too: I had thought of a cool name for a business weeks before coming to the conclusion, and I wanted to use it, but didn't know what to use it for, until this.
So that's me!
I want to thank you so much for reading and for coming to my website. Please don't hesitate to let me know if I can help you!
