The best way to get something done, is to begin
Would you agree? I always try to keep this in my mind, though often find myself procrastinating! Still, when it comes to organising, I think this is the best method, but I would also add: begin with the smallest thing, try to ignore the big picture

The Problem with Organising
Very often, I find that organising is a task that gets a bit left out. For a lot of people it's boring, for others, they have no time, but the problem with it is that it looms large in our minds. We overestimate how long it will take us to sort out, so nothing gets sorted out, and all of a sudden, that small spot of disorganisation is taking over the whole house, making us afraid to even begin.
The Problem with Beginning
If we are afraid to begin, then often I find that we don't, especially if our minds are drawing attention to all of the disorganisation in our lives. The task seems too big to tackle. And so we leave it. It gets harder and harder to begin until we don't even know where to start.
How to Begin Organising when you Feel Like You Can't
When you're in this mood, organising can feel insurmountable. So, my advice would be this: start with something small. Find the smallest thing possible in your house to organise. Something like the junk drawer. Ignore the big picture, put every other bit of disorganisation out of your mind.
Just focus on one task: the smallest one
Once you have started on this, and finished it (because you will) I promise you, other tasks are going to feel less daunting. If you can get over the hurdle of beginning, then you'll probably find it all comes together in a big flood.
And if you need a little extra help, sign up for my newsletter, where I provide a short, free guide to cleaning out your junk drawer, designed with easy wins and without preamble, you can tick off each stage as you do it.
And the beauty is that, once you've done your junk drawer, you can apply the lessons to any other organising project, whether big or small.
If you don't want to sign up to the newsletter, you can also get Organise and Declutter Your Junk Drawer for 79p (the lowest they would let me charge!) on Amazon.
Thanks so much for reading!
